Learning to Stand Again
One day, a new physical therapist walked into her room — Dr. Ethan Lewis. Young, patient, and compassionate, he refused to let her give up.
“You’ve been given a second chance, Emma,” he said. “Your body isn’t broken — it’s waiting for you to believe again.”
At first, she ignored him. But Ethan persisted. He pushed her to sit up, to find her balance, to move her toes, then her legs. Inch by inch, she began to fight. Every small victory was powered by a single thought: I will walk again. I will find my son.
Months passed. She fell, cried, screamed — but never stopped. The day she stood on the parallel bars, the rehab center erupted in applause. Emma sobbed. For the first time since the accident, she felt hope.
Later that evening, Ethan handed her a slip of paper. “You’ve been approved for assisted walking therapy. You’re progressing faster than anyone expected.”
Emma smiled faintly. “Thank you… for believing in me when no one else did.”
