After the Accident, My Mother-in-Law Hit Me and Took My Child Away

Justice

People stopped to stare. Moments later, an enraged Margaret appeared. “Noah! Get away from that woman!”

Noah clung tighter. “She’s my mom! You lied to me!”

Emma straightened, her voice steady. “Margaret, you took everything from me once. But not this time.”

Margaret’s face twisted in rage. “You think anyone will believe you? You’re weak, Emma. You’re nothing.”

But Emma didn’t flinch. She reached into her bag and pulled out documents — therapy records, legal papers, proof of her recovery.

“I’ve filed for custody. And I have witnesses who know what you did.”

Margaret’s face paled. The crowd murmured. The school principal stepped forward. “Mrs. Reed, I think you should leave.”

Noah squeezed Emma’s hand. “I want to go home with you.”

And for the first time in years, she could finally say the words she had dreamed of:

“Then let’s go home, sweetheart.”
