Country Apple Fritter Bread with Old-Fashioned Glaze

  1. First Layer: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  2. Add Apples & Sugar: Sprinkle half of the chopped apples over the batter, followed by half of the cinnamon brown sugar mixture. Gently pat the apples into the batter so they adhere.
  3. Second Layer: Pour the remaining batter evenly over the apple layer. Top with the remaining chopped apples and the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  4. Swirl: Lightly pat the apples into the batter, then use a knife or spoon to gently swirl the cinnamon sugar mixture through the top layer. Avoid overmixing to keep defined swirls.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, loosely tent with foil during the final 10 minutes.
  6. Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before lifting it out.

Make the Glaze

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk or cream until smooth and pourable. Adjust consistency slightly if needed — the glaze should drizzle easily.
