Step 1: Load the Crockpot
- Place the stew meat directly into the crockpot. No need to brown beforehand — the slow cooking process will make it tender and flavorful.
- Add the onion soup mix, brown gravy mix, cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, and beef broth. Stir well to combine all the ingredients into a smooth, creamy sauce that will cook down into the perfect gravy.
Step 2: Slow Cook to Perfection
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender and the gravy is thick and rich. Stir once or twice throughout cooking if possible, ensuring the meat stays coated and flavorful.
- If you prefer to cook it faster, you can set the crockpot on high for 4–5 hours, though the low-and-slow method gives the best texture and depth of flavor.
