Step 1: Prep the Oven and Baking Dish
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a little butter to prevent sticking. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Meat Mixture
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or turkey) along with the chopped onion and garlic. Stir frequently and break up the meat into small pieces as it browns.
- Once the meat is fully cooked and no pink remains, drain any excess grease. This keeps the casserole from becoming too oily.
Step 3: Combine the Ingredients
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture with the sliced potatoes, carrots, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, and milk. Stir everything together until evenly coated in the creamy sauce.
- Add the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well to ensure every bite is flavorful. The mixture should be thick and hearty, with the sauce coating all the vegetables.
