Prep the Bread
Use hearty whole wheat bread that won’t fall apart. Spread a light layer of Worcestershire sauce on the inside of each slice. -
Layer the Sandwich

Place a layer of shredded sharp cheddar on one slice.

Add 1–2 tomato slices.

Sprinkle a tiny bit of black pepper (optional).

Top with more cheddar, then the second slice of bread.

Butter and Grill

Lightly butter the outside of both slices (or use mayo).

Heat a skillet over medium heat.

Cook the sandwich for 3–4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until golden brown and cheese is melted.

Serve
Let it rest for a minute before slicing. Serve hot and gooey.
