Reunion
The school gates loomed ahead. Children laughed and ran, backpacks bouncing. Emma stood still, her heart pounding. Then she saw him — a boy with brown curls and bright blue eyes, just like Daniel’s.
Her knees weakened. “Noah…” she breathed.
When the bell rang, she stepped closer. The boy looked up — and froze. For a heartbeat, neither moved. Then, guided by something pure and instinctive, Noah dropped his bag and ran straight into her arms.
“Mom!” he cried, voice breaking.
Emma fell to her knees, arms open, tears streaming down her cheeks. “My baby… my sweet boy…”
