Cheesy Taco Breadsticks

Instructions

  1. Cook the taco meat: In a medium skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes, breaking it up with a spatula. Drain any excess grease. Stir in the taco seasoning mix along with 2–3 tablespoons of water, allowing it to simmer for 1–2 minutes until thickened and fragrant. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly while you prepare the dough.
  2. Prepare the dough: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly flour your work surface and unroll the pizza dough into a rectangle, about 13×9 inches. Use a rolling pin if needed to even out the surface. Cut the dough lengthwise into two equal halves for easy assembly.
  3. Assemble the breadsticks: Spread the cooked taco meat evenly over one half of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Place the halved cheese sticks evenly across the top of the meat mixture, spacing them out slightly. Lay the second half of the dough on top and press gently to seal the edges together. Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to score the dough into strips about 1 to 1½ inches wide — this will make separating them easier after baking.
  4. Add buttery topping: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and parsley. Brush the mixture generously over the top of the dough, coating it fully for a golden, flavorful crust. You can sprinkle a light dusting of shredded cheese on top for extra richness if desired.
  5. Bake to perfection: Transfer the assembled breadsticks onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza pan. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the dough is puffed, golden brown, and the cheese inside is melted and gooey. The kitchen will fill with the aroma of buttery garlic and taco spices.
  6. Cool and slice: Let the breadsticks rest for 5 minutes before slicing fully along your scored lines. This allows the melted cheese to set slightly and prevents it from oozing out too quickly when you separate them.
  7. Serve and enjoy: Serve warm with dipping sauces like salsa, sour cream, or queso. Each breadstick is soft and cheesy inside, with a crisp, buttery crust that’s packed with taco flavor — the perfect finger food for any gathering.
