Classic Homemade Lasagna

Step 3: Assemble the Lasagna

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Lightly grease a baking dish with butter or olive oil.
  2. Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce on the bottom of the dish to prevent the pasta from sticking.
  3. Add a layer of lasagne sheets, followed by a generous portion of the meat and vegetable sauce. Pour a bit of béchamel sauce on top, then sprinkle with grated mozzarella.
  4. Repeat the layers (pasta, meat sauce, béchamel, cheese) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of béchamel sauce and mozzarella cheese on top.

Step 4: Bake and Serve

  1. Bake the lasagna in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling. If the cheese browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing — this helps the layers set and makes serving easier.
  3. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for color and freshness. Serve warm with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal.
