Egg in a Hole Avocado Toast

Instructions

1️⃣ Cut the Hole

  1. Place each slice of bread on a cutting board. Use a round cutter, biscuit mold, or the rim of a glass to cut a hole in the center of each slice. The opening should be large enough to hold an egg without overflowing.
  2. Set aside the cut-outs — these can be toasted and served as delicious dippers.

2️⃣ Toast & Fry

  1. Heat butter or olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it begins to shimmer.
  2. Place the bread slices in the pan and crack one egg into each hole. Try to keep the yolk centered for even cooking.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and any additional spices such as chili flakes or paprika.
  4. Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolks are still slightly runny. For over-easy eggs, gently flip and cook for another 30–45 seconds.

3️⃣ Make the Avocado Mash

  1. In a small bowl, scoop out the avocado and mash with a fork until smooth but still slightly chunky for texture.
  2. Add lemon or lime juice and a pinch of salt. Stir to combine.
  3. For an extra flavor boost, add red pepper flakes or a pinch of cumin.

4️⃣ Assemble
