Sticky Sweet & Spicy Wings with Herbed Beef Rice & Garlic Green Beans

Directions

1. Prepare the Wings:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the wings dry with paper towels for extra crispiness. In a bowl, toss them with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated. Arrange on a wire rack set over a baking tray for even air circulation and crispiness.

Bake for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway through until the skin is golden and crispy. While the wings bake, prepare the sauce by combining honey, hot sauce, soy sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small saucepan. Simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy. Once the wings are baked, toss them in the sauce, then return to the oven for another 5 minutes to caramelize and glaze beautifully.

2. Make the Herbed Beef Rice:

In a large skillet or saucepan, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent. Stir in the rice, parsley, thyme, turmeric (or annatto), salt, and pepper. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 18–20 minutes, or until the rice is fluffy and has absorbed all the liquid. Fluff gently with a fork and adjust seasoning if needed.

3. Cook the Garlic Green Beans:

In a skillet, heat butter or oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened and golden. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until aromatic. Add the green beans and toss to coat, cooking for 8–10 minutes until tender yet still crisp. Season with salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper for a touch of heat. Serve warm.
